Another successful senior appointment made by Arnold Ash. The Pools has recruited Caroline Newman as its new director of regulatory compliance.
Newman will be responsible for helping The Pools meet strong governance and compliance practices during a challenging period of regulatory change in the UK.
She boasts more than a decade of experience within compliance, having worked in the online gambling industry since 2013 after starting out with Odobo.
A compliance manager at Playtech for more than four years, Newman then went on to serve as head of compliance for Midnite until November 2023, where she became the UK challenger brand’s first ever compliance hire.
She then joined Entain as head of anti-financial crime and MLRO, before a nine-month spell as senior regulatory compliance manager with B2B-led Inspired Gaming Group.
This hire follows on from the October appointment of former LeoVegas Group head of safer gambling, Joseph Carter-Bell, as The Pools’ director of customer success and operations.
The Pools CEO James Arnold said Newman should make an immediate positive impact on the business as she brings with her an impressive track record and a wealth of regulatory experience.
“I’m excited to bring everything that I’ve learned throughout my career to The Pools,” said Newman.
“The Pools is an iconic, century-old brand with so much prestige and nostalgia – something very few organisations are able to say.
“The Pools holds a special place in people’s memories and it’s really exciting to see the company going through a transformative period, while still remaining loyal to the traditional customer base.
“Moving forward, the focus is on innovation and modernisation. I want to support The Pools in upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance and player protection, especially in a landscape that continues to evolve.
“I want to work with colleagues to ensure compliance stays embedded in the culture of The Pools, reaffirming the company’s commitment to responsibility, customer care and doing things the right way – values that resonate with me,” she added.
The legacy UK betting operator went through a rebranding campaign last year, which coincided with a wider restructuring of the business over the last 18 months, including an overhaul of its technical infrastructure under new CTO Phillip Donegan.
